Minéraux : objets de collection Exposition at the Mineralogy Museum of the École des Mines : (Paris, September 6, 2023 – Mars 9, 2024)

Abstract

The Mineralogy Museum of the École des Mines de Paris presents a new exhibition entitled Minéraux: objets de collection. For this event, the museum will reveal gems, minerals, rocks, meteorites and art objects, and the hidden history behind acquiring these treasures, accumulated over two hundred years. The exhibit consists of an immersive experience that showcases the beauty of minerals and explores their scientific, cultural and historical importance. For the first time, hundreds of documents from purchases, collections, archives, revolutionary confiscations and donations will be visible to the public, telling the story of the arrival of the minerals at the Museum and their history in the institution. The exhibition is aimed at a wide range of visitors, those curious about the fascinating world of minerals and the experts who will be able to appreciate an unusual side of mineralogy, that of its strategic and economic role in the political history of sciences.
